The Adjustment Bureau Synopsis

Do we control our destiny, or do unseen forces manipulate us? Matt Damon stars in the thriller The Adjustment Bureau as a man who glimpses the future Fate has planned for him and realizes he wants something else. To get it, he must pursue the only woman he's ever loved across, under and through the streets of modern-day New York.

On the brink of winning a seat in the U.S. Senate, ambitious politician David Norris (Damon) meets beautiful contemporary ballet dancer Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt)--a woman like none he's ever known. But just as he realizes he's falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart.

David learns he is up against the agents of Fate itself--the men of The Adjustment Bureau--who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent David and Elise from being together. In the face of overwhelming odds, he must either let her go and accept a predetermined path...or risk everything to defy Fate and be with her.

The high-concept thriller The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt was about two people attempting to escape their own fate. It did decently at the box office and earned some good reviews. Adapted and directed by George Nolfi, it was based on the short story "The Adjustment Team" by Hollywood's favorite SF author Philip K. Dick. Now, however, Dick's estate has filed suit, claiming that the production is trying to escape paying royalties on the film.

Weekend Box Office: Rango Rocks, The 80s Don't Weekend Box Office: Rango Rocks, The 80s Don't
This weekend was a good one for cartoon chameleons, not so much for fans of the 80s. Computer animated Rango banked $38 million for an easy number one. While that's only a start against its $135 million budget, it's a far better turn out than that 80s movie enjoyed. Topher Grace's Take Me Home Tonight only managed to pull in $3.5 million officially giving it the lowest opening for a wide release film for the year so far. The debut was so weak, it didn't even make the top ten, opening at eleventh place just behind month-old Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.

It's not news that Damon was originally considered to star in the film, but interesting to hear about his decision process, and how much he was genuinely interested in playing the role that wound up going to Sam Worthington.

If you’re not interested in seeing The Adjustment Bureau now, maybe you will be after watching these clips. From the trailers you know that the film seems a little bit like Dark City meets Inception, the story of a man (Matt Damon) who attempts to deviate from the path laid out for his life, only to discover that the hand of fate is a very real thing (comprised of guys wearing cool hats) and it isn’t happy about his choices. But these clips hint at something more.
