They also apparently considered Joe Cornish, whose Attack the Block mastered teen protagonists, unusual violence and a lot of humor in a way precious few movies have. I don't think Cornish was on many of the wishlists flying around the Internet in the last week, but now that they've mentioned him he seems kinda perfect for the gig

Attack The Block Director Joe Cornish Talks Sequels, TV Spin Offs And A U.S. Remake Attack The Block Director Joe Cornish Talks Sequels, TV Spin Offs And A U.S. Remake
If you are going to do an Block sequel, it would make sense to have it begin minutes after the first one ends, with the exhausted street rats having to muster the strength to respond to, as Cornish says, the next wave of alien attackers. You could easily go bigger, expanding into more recognizable parts of London.

NYCC Video Interview: Joe Cornish Talks Designing The Aliens In Attack The Block NYCC Video Interview: Joe Cornish Talks Designing The Aliens In Attack The Block
On top of being an incredibly innovative spin on the alien invasion genre, Attack the Block is simply an extraordinary achievement for Joe Cornish as this is his first directing venture. A seasoned screenwriter, Cornish opted to wait until he amassed enough know-how to get behind the lens and apparently the plan worked because Attack the Block is not to be missed.

Attack The Block Gets A Red Band Trailer Attack The Block Gets A Red Band Trailer
As a film critic/journalist living in Los Angeles, I get to go to and see a lot of really amazing things, but there is something I feel as though I am truly missing out on: Attack The Block. Practically every metropolitan critic that I know (including our own Katey Rich) has seen the British action comedy and has left the theater absolutely raving about it.

SXSW Review: Attack The Block Could Be The Best Action Movie Of The Year SXSW Review: Attack The Block Could Be The Best Action Movie Of The Year
The midnight screening is a sacred ritual of South by Southwest. The festival is known for sniffing out movies with a strong visual flair and a penchant for cinematic geekery. British comedian/writer Joe Cornish's debut feature Attack the Block couldn't fit more perfectly into that mold.
