Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
Little Miss Sunshine Synopsis
Little Miss Sunshine is the story of the dysfunctional Hoover family, taking a cross-country trip in a VW bus to get their young daughter into the finals of a beauty pageant.
Little Miss Sunshine was a smash at Sundance, and is getting buzz as this yearís Lost in Translation. Of course calling it this yearís Lost in Translation implies that a Lost in Translation comes along every year, and that just isnít so.
The potential for something pretty cool is there though; the cast alone is good enough to justify a lot of interest in the project. Steve Carell can do no wrong and besides, itís about time he branched out and away from big money blockbusters to a weird indie flick. Heíll make his money in the sequel to Bruce Almighty called Evan Almighty; here heís trying something smaller and more intimate. Think of it as ďThe OfficeĒ in a little yellow Volkswagen bus.
