Lockout Synopsis

Starring Guy Pearce (Memento, Prometheus) and Maggie Grace (Taken, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) and set in the near future, Lockout follows a falsely convicted ex-government agent (Pearce), whose one chance at obtaining freedom lies in the dangerous mission of rescuing the President’s daughter (Grace) from rioting convicts at an outer space maximum-security prison. Lockout was directed by Stephen St. Leger and James Mather from their script co-written with Luc Besson, who is also a producer. Peter Stormare co-stars.

Every time I see a new preview for Lockout, the new science-fiction action film from directors Stephen Saint Leger and James Mather, I find myself wondering why Guy Pearce doesn’t get more parts like the one he has in this movie. While he has played harder, tougher characters in the past, he’s never been given the chance to be a full-on action hero who takes his punches and spits out one-liners.

Written by Luc Besson, James Mather, Stephen St. Leger and directed by Mather and St. Leger, Lock-Out is set in 2079 when a prison in space is used to house some of the most dangerous criminals in the world. While the president's daughter (Grace) is performing an inspection, a breakout occurs and suddenly the crazies are running the asylum. With limited options, the president turns to a recently convicted, albeit framed, spy (Pearce) who is sent to the space prison to rescue the daughter.
