Mercy Synopsis

Mercy is the feature film directorial debut from Patrick Hoelck, best known for his fashion and celebrity portrait photography. It was written and produced by Scott Caan. Mercy also marks the first time father and son, James and Scott Caan, have shared significant on screen time together (they previously appeared in a few scenes in 1995’s A Boy Called Hate).

Johnny Ryan (Scott Caan) is a successful young romance novelist who doesn't actually believe in love. When he meets the beautiful and mysterious Mercy (Wendy Glenn) at the launch party of his latest book, Johnny’s world is suddenly turned upside down. Shockingly, she is the only major critic who dislikes his book. A cynic by nature, Johnny becomes determined to find the depth that Mercy says he is lacking and, in the process, falls in love. With an all star supporting cast including James Caan and Dylan McDermott Mercy explores the struggle of maintaining a relationship, and the possibility of losing it all.

Dylan McDermott Joins Stephen King Adaptation Mercy Dylan McDermott Joins Stephen King Adaptation Mercy
When he isn't being mixed up with Dermot Mulroney on Saturday Night Live, Dylan McDermott has been appearing on American Horror Story, with his first on screen appearance in the FX drama series' second season taking place just last night. And it looks like he'll be sticking around the horror genre for one of his upcoming feature roles, as he's been cast in Universal's adaptation of Stephen King's short story Gramma, titled Mercy.

Stephen King's Mercy Adds Super 8, Walking Dead Kid Co-Stars Stephen King's Mercy Adds Super 8, Walking Dead Kid Co-Stars
Stephen King’s short story Gramma was published in Weirdbook magazine back in 1984. And while countless King stories have made their way to the silver screen over the years (decades, really), Gramma has long been overlooked. Not any more. Peter Cornwell is stepping up to direct the horror thriller, using the title Mercy, and casting officially is underway.
