Weekend Box Office: Puss In Boots Claws Its Way To The Top
After the Shrek franchise went down in flames following the critical debacle that was the third and fourth movies, there wasn't much hope that spin off Puss In Boots would stand a chance at the box office.

Where Does The Paranormal Activity Franchise Go From Here?
This past weekend Paranormal Activity 3 set a whole slew of new records. The movie now holds the top spot for midnight opener for a horror film (bringing in $8 million), best opening day for a horror film in the US ($26.2 million) and best opening for a October/fall movie ($54 million). What makes it a true success, though, is that the whole movie cost only $5 million to make...

Weekend Box Office: Paranormal Activity Scares Up Record Opening
For the first October in seven years there isn't a Saw movie tormenting movie-going audiences, but the long-running series appears to have a solid replacement. Paranormal Activity 3 secured that franchise's success this weekend by landing not only the biggest opening of the series so far, but the biggest ever opening for September or October.

Paranormal Activity 3 Scores Impressive $8 Million From Midnight Showings
Paranormal Activity 3 is a big-budget entry in the horror franchise, in that it cost $5 million when the first film cost $11,000. And yet, the latest scarefest still managed to make back its budget through midnight screenings alone. PA3 brought in $8 million from midnight screenings last night, nearly $2 million more than the second film in the franchise did last year

Why Prequels Are The New Sequels
For decades, Hollywood’s go-to move when it came to extending the life of a popular franchise was greenlighting a sequel. But with lackluster installments like Lethal Weapon 4, The Matrix: Revolutions and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull-- among many, many others-- methodically killing the strategy over the years, something had to change

Fantastic Fest Day 7: Livid, The Corridor, Paranormal Activity 3
As a big fan of the franchise, I was looking forward to the third installment and was delighted when it was added as a Fantastic Fest secret screening. For a good portion of the film, it was delivering exactly what I was expecting with a few impressive new elements thrown in.

New Paranormal Activity 3 Trailer Takes You Back To The 80s
Paranormal Activity 3 is a prequel to the last two films that explores the first encounter Katie and Kristi have with the demon that has haunted them their entire lives. The movie was directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the directors of last year's hit documentary Catfish, and written by Christopher B. Landon, whose credits include Paranormal Activity 2 and Disturbia.

Check Out Three New Clips From Paranormal Activity 3
Here's a fun fact: Apollo 18 might have opened at number three and only taken in $8 million at the box office in its opening weekend, but that was actually $3 million more than it needed to make back its budget. Now in its fourth week of release, the movie has made more than four times its cost internationally.

Paranormal Activity 3 Poster Goes Back In Time
Paranormal Activity will continue to work its way backward through the story next month when the third installment of the horror franchise hits theaters. Paramount released the creepy new poster for the film, which is set in the late-’80’s.

Paranormal Activity 3 Trailer Terrorizes Kids In The 80s
Here’s the first trailer for Paranormal Activity 3. Is anyone else surprised this franchise made it this far? More surprising is that this one is actually a period piece. It’s framed as a woman in the present showing us the story of her childhood in the 80s, as filmed by the family camcorder.

Catfish Directors Named As Helmers Of Paranormal Activity 3
Though I actually really liked Catfish, even I'll admit that the marketing was tremendously misleading. Though the blame can't be put on the filmmakers, the trailers for the film made it seem like a horror movie which - without giving anything away - it wasn't.

Paranormal Activity 3 Coming Next Halloween
In theory the Saw franchise wrapped up this Halloween, and that means there’s room for some other horror franchise to step in and take its annual place. Enter Paranormal Activity. The second entry in the fake found footage franchise
