Wrong Synopsis

Dolph Springer (Jack Plotnick of Comedy Central's Reno 911!) awakens one morning to find he has lost the sole love of his life - his dog, Paul. Desperate to reunite with his best friend and to set things right, Dolph embarks on a journey which spirals into the realm of the absurd. On his quest, he alters the lives of several bizarro characters, including a promiscuous pizza delivery girl (Alexis Dziena from HBO's Entourage), a mentally unstable, jogging-addicted neighbor, an opportunistic French-Mexican gardener, an eccentric pet detective (Steve Little of HBO's Eastbound And Down) and most mysterious of all, an enigmatic pony-tailed guru, Master Chang (William Fichtner from HBO's Entourage) who imparts his teachings to Dolph on how to metaphysically reconnect with his pet. From fearless cinematic surrealist Quentin Dupieux, the director behind the head-exploding Rubber, Wrong is an entrancing and wholly original hallucinatory universe all its own, which TwitchFilm calls "a wild and hilarious ride of absurdity!"

Anyone who knows the work of director Quentin Dupieux's knows that the filmmaker doesn't quite have the same sensibilities as most. To put it bluntly, his movies are pretty goddamn weird. Take, for example, his 2010 film Rubber. Not only was the movie's main character a telekinetic used tire named Robert who enjoys blowing up peoples' heads, the film features its own audience that watches the plot unfold while they stand on a hill using binoculars.

With the imaginative but downright weird horror-comedy Rubber, writer-director Quentin Dupieux established himself as a filmmaker to watch. I mean, how many moviemakers think to make their protagonist an actual tire named Robert, who has a passionate obsession for a beautiful young woman and a telekinetic power for destruction on par with Carrie White? Just Dupieux.

As was said in the Sundance rundown, the film is about a man named Dolph (Plotnick) who is searching for his lost dog, but constantly keeps running into strange characters, including "a nympho pizza-delivery girl, a jogging neighbor seeking the absolute, and a mysterious righter of wrongs." Sadly the film doesn't have a distributor yet (hopefully its show at January's festival will change that) and, therefore, does not yet have a release date.
