Angelina Jolie may be on the lookout for a slightly more comfortable and lower profile place to live while in Pune, India. The actress, her children and the new stay-at-home dad Brad Pitt are all on location where Jolie is filming her latest film, A Mighty Heart. Thus far they've been roughing it at the five star Hotel Le Meridien, but they may soon be moving to a private bungalow, possibly because their arrival got the hotel into legal hot water.
According to The Peninsula, Qatar's Leading English Daily News Source (give yourself bonus points if you actually know where Qatar is), the presence of the Jolie-Pitt family means legal complications for the hotel. Indian law requires that all hotels report the presence and accomodation of foreigners, an action that the hotel apparently failed to perform. "No hotels told the FRO officials about presence of the stars," said an assistant police commissioner. "If we find out that they have been provided accommodation without complying with the law, action would be taken against the guilty."
Moving to a private bungalow could have been in the works anyway. According to reports, security upgrades and renovations have been made to a bungalow a short distance from where the movie is being filmed. The movie is about the life of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Jolie will be playing the reporter's widow.
Angelina originally wanted the movie filmed in Pakistan where the events surrounding Pearl's death occurred."I am disappointed that we could not shoot the film in Pakistan, a country that I love and have visited three times," Jolie said in a statement covered by BBC news. Her adviser added, "They talked with people from all levels of the Pakistan government and there's certainly no hard feelings, but it became clear that it was preferable to film in India."
