Complete with her brand new plastic face and plastic other stuff, the increasingly talented Ashlee Simpson is busily preparing for her theater debut as Roxie Hart in a London West End production of the musical "Chicago". While Ashlee claims she doesn't need any work on developing her character, she is working hard to hammer our the songs and choreography. Let's hope it pays off. The theater scene is a little less forgiving than Saturday Night Live if you start lip-syncing to the wrong song and then break out in a hoe down.
"The play is absolutely all about celebrity and wanting to be famous and having your name in the papers and your picture in the papers," the 21 year old was quoted as saying in People. "And, in that sense, it's been kind of cool, because I've really got to connect to that, because I've seen that world and been in that world." One can definitely say that Ashlee's career has been all about trying to build a little celebrity, so maybe she does have that angle down after all.
What has it been like for her working with people whose singing and acting careers weren't handed to them on a silver plate? "You are not a celebrity when you come here. Everyone is equal, everyone has to work together, so this has been amazing," she said. "But, as far as tabloids and whatnot go, I really try to keep my head out of them and try not to read the stories or anything like that, because they are never really true.". Well, if you feel that way Ashlee I take back what I said earlier about your increasing talent.
