Acclaimed U.S. author David Foster Wallace has died from an apparent suicide. He was 46.
The writer, best known for his 1996 novel Infinite Jest, was found dead at his home in California on Friday (12Sep08). He had reportedly hanged himself, a records clerk at the Claremont, California Police Department tells People.com.
Wallace, who was said to suffer from depression, published his first novel, The Broom of the System, at the age of 24 to critical acclaim.
Infinite Jest also garnered great praise, and was placed on Time magazine's 1,000-plus-page books in its list of 100 Best English-Language Novels from 1923- 2005. (MJ/WNWCPL/ZN)
