Barbara Streisand Lobs F-Bomb At Fans

By Scott Gwin: 2006-10-10 00:00:00
Barbara Streisand Lobs F-Bomb At Fans Barbara Streisand is one of those celebrities whose fans are almost more cult-like than Trekkies. Like moths to a flame they'll pay ridiculous amounts of money for seats at her rarely offered concerts. They don't mind spending wads of their cash to hear her legendary voice singing, but they get a little crabby when she tries to play political comedian. That doesn't bother Streisand. When heckled this weekend she tossed an F-bomb their direction and kept right on going.

Occasionally, when Ms. Streisand needs an ego boost she launches an farewell tour. You may remember her farewell tour of 2000. This time around she's not only saying goodbye, she's thrown in a comedy sketch midway through. Given her almost irrationally dedicated support of the Democratic National Party, it's no surprise her act involves a conversation with a President Bush look-alike who plays dumber than a fence post. Sick of the mediocre schtick, some fans at her latest performance begain jeering the act. According to E! Online, one fan even yelled, "What is this, a fundraiser?" Suddenly Barbara's sense of humor evaporated.

"Why don't you shut the f*** up?" she hollered back. "If you can't take a joke, why don't you leave and get your money back." Look who's talking there Babs. Apparently the man felt strongly enough that he did indeed leave, after which Streisand apologized.

Eventually she stopped her pedantic comedy preaching act and went back to singing, which is what the fans paid to hear in the first place. All was well, and no doubt everyone was in tears by the time she finally took her last bow. Hopefully her next farewell tour, probably due out sometime around the next presidential election, will be even more exciting.

  • Celebrities are vary rarely experts in any field. I'm disappointed in babs and pleased with those who showed their displeasure during her concert.
  • I have lost all respect for Ms. Streisand....I have been a fan but no more...what makes entertainers feel they are professional politicians? They are entertainers who have the ability to use their voice because they have the attention of the masses, as such they should use their voice responsibly and respectfully. I pay no creedence to entertainers meddling in politics....I respect them for their craft but do not put much stock into what they have to say politically...shame on you Barbara!
  • I have more respect for Barbara Streisand now. Bush is a moron and telling it like it is F*** them if they cant take a joke. As soon as I heard what She had done I laughed out loud. Now Barabara is a Woman with charisma and sex appeal and I get hot under the collar every time I see her perform. Damn she is the worlds finest Vixen Diva and her voice isnt too bad either. I salute her!
  • Politics and entertainment have crossed long before Ms. Streisand.....ie Ronald Reagan and Arnold.......just a couple examples
  • I saw Barbara in Columbus on the 6th. She had the same skit. I am republican and I can take a joke. I knew before I went what her political views are so I didn't get upset. As well as no one here had a problem with her skit. To me anyone who has that strong of views as to get upset with her should not have went to see her to begin with.
  • I haven't spent a cent on any of her music since the 60's...why....because she has demonstrated as much
moronics and stupidity as the people she rails against......the politicians..i.e. government...I HAVE to give
the government some of my hard earned dollars.......but certainly I DO NOT have to put any more in HER
pocket or others like her....she makes me sick......celebrities (we make them you know) should stick to what
they do......and stay out of things like politics....they are starting to believe their own press releases in many
cases......and should really put their energy into helping other areas of this country...
  • I abhor Bush and adore Streisand. I was in the Club Suite Box at MSG on Monday night. Keeping in mind my first sentence here, I was appalled that she not only took precious singing time away but she took advantage of her captive audience. The voice is exquiste. The person is not.
  • I always find it interesting that people who write such dribble, like in the review above, seem to think that they will some how make a difference in others lives by saying the same thing over and over without so much as an original thought or an inkling of what is going on. Artists by their nature are expressive and make points for reasons which are intended to enlighten. Streisand is no different here. She has every right to say and do what she pleases, it is her concert. not yours or the heckelers. Did the person writing the review even have a clue about the foundations for which the concerts high priced tickets were meant to promote? Is the only reason this person wrote this review was to try and get a \"me too\" ditto because she dropped a swear word? Oh dear, oh my god! Heckeling and politics may both be ugly at a concert, but I think heckeling is worse than conveying ideas.

  • Barbra responded to the idiot heckler (who was probably planted) only when he accused her of being unpatriotic. I know 'cause I was there. No well-meaning American should have to endure those kind of attacks. Good for Barbra. Oh, by the way, her performance was brilliant.
  • In response to Vince Kind\'s post. By all accounts I\'ve read the \"heckler\" in question said \"what is this a fundraiser?\" How exactly is that being calling her \"unpatriotic\"? If I was there I would have responded to her the same way.
Of course, I\'d never be dumb enough to spend money to see the no-talent sham in the first place.
  • As others have probably mentioned- I feel it is best said " Shut up and sing " ... We pay these people to entertain us with their voices, comedic ability- or some other talent- nothing more... Considering how obscene prices of her tickets are- it would make sense that a good portion of her fans are republican -although not anymore- When is she going to die already ? Even Cher doesn't make this many come backs--

  • SHE IS THE BEST, SHE IS A STAR, I LOVE HER---BE HAPPY!
  • I personally think it was very disrespectful of Ms. Streisand to do such a comedy. She's got a great voice and is worth going to attend her concerts but maybe she should keep her opinions to herself. I mean the people came there for a music concert not a comedy show. I myself am not so interested in politics but I will say that being a president is a hard job. Imagine you being in Bush's place. There's lots of work to do, to accomplish. I don't have a very negative or positive view of what Ms. Streisand did.
  • Didn't they find out that the man was actually a "professional heckler"?
  • HER NAME IS "BARBRA", NOT "BARBARA"!!!!!!!!!!!!
