Duane "Dog" Chapman, the man behind the popular show "Dog The Bounty Hunter" is frantic to avoid becoming the kind of person he's known for catching. Usually he's the one dragging people to justice but now the Mexican government wants him, his son Leland and another of their associates extradited on charges of illegal activity. The big Dog is prepared to do whatever he has to do to keep it from happening, even apologizing. It sounds like the kind of desparate tactic his bounties attempt as he's hauling them away.
Would "Dog" take begging in exchange for letting one of his captures go? Doubtful. But that's what he's hoping for in his own case. Three years ago the three men travelled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and captured Andrew Luster, the convicted rapist and heir to the Max Factor fortune. What they failed to research was the fact that bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico. They were arrested in Mexico, posted a paltry $1,300 bail, and returned to the U.S., thinking nothing more about it. They might have forgotten, but Mexico hadn't.
Last week the three were picked up by American authorities last week and re-posted bail, this time to the tune of $500,000. According to a report from the AP, Dog is willing to forfeit the bail paid in Mexico, apologize for everything except capturing Luster (which ironically is why he's in trouble in the first place), and even make a generous charitable contribution . What's he trying to do, give them grounds for a bribery charge too?
If Chapman and his boys are extradited and found guilty, they could face fines and jail time up to four years. The U.S. Attorney's Office doesn't have to decide what to do until October 16. Until then, Dog's attorneys are doing everything they can to make a case for denying extradition. If there were ever a time for someone in Mexico to want to make a name for themselves as a bounty hunter, this could be their chance. I hear Univision is looking to expand into reality TV. I imagine the guy who brings Dog to justice in Mexico might land a TV show of his own.

Everyone should be thanking Dog for capturing Luster. When he did so he had a local Mexican policeman with him so I think it's ludicrous for the Mexican authorities to ever have arrested him.
If he is extradited, i think everyone in the US should boycott anything and everything Mexican.
Dog, Leland, and Tim are heroes! If ever there was a case to deny extradition this is it! Tell Mexico to buzz off - they can\'t have Dog! He captured a convicted rapist, who was wanted by the FBI, and they got no reward money. We owe them a deep debt of grattitude.
I AGREE THAT IF DOG AND HIS CREW ARE EXTRADITED, I THINK WE SHOULD BOYCOTT MEXICO AND SEND ALL THE ILLEGALS BACK TO MEXICO WHERE THEY BELONG. WHEN IS THE U.S.A. GOING TO REALIZE THAT THEY NEED TO STAND UP FOR THE AMERICAN CITIZENS. WE ARE THE ONES AMERICA WAS BUILT ON.........NOT MEXICO.
I hope they send him to Mexico. Dog got caught in Mexico, paid bail and skipped town just like the people he catches. He has to do what he makes others do, face up to mistakes and make them right with in the law system. His past accomplishments should have no bearing what so ever on how his case is being handled. Breaking a law is breaking a law. If a sports figure was driving drunk and hit a friend or family member of your and disfigured them for life. Would you say “He’s a great athlete let him go?” I don’t think so.
the mexico goverment is pretty messed up for trying to punish a guy for takeing Luster. First of all, luster could have targeted more people and dealled to tons more people. Secondly , he could have killed some one someday. So dog putting this man behind bars is not a bad thing its a good thing
I Do agree with Sandra and Barbara about standing up for the american citizen I'm glad THE DOG did what he did to get the guy. But I don't agree with the boycott everthing Mexican and have no idea on the history on who was here first. But that's not the point here. STOP and think about it how is going to do the dirtys jobs that we don't what are YOU. If we boybott and send every illegals back who will do the farm work so we can have fresh crops. HELLO. IF not the people understand that it's the goverment. Like here I woman has the right to gave up her new born at any hospital RIGHT but some of them still don't do it. They have the right to ask for the baby back after they throw it away??? is the goverment. I woulndn't gave her baby back. In DOG case I wouldn't arrested him i would of help me. BUT THIS ONE PERSONAL LOOK.
the mexico goverment is pretty messed up for trying to punish a guy for takeing Luster. First of all, luster could have targeted more people and dealled to tons more people. Secondly , he could have killed some one someday. So dog putting this man behind bars is not a bad thing its a good thing
Having been arreased in Mexcio on bogus charges myself, I know first hand how corrupt Mexico's system is. The US should not even consider responding to these ludicrous charges. We need to put the Mexican system of injustice exactly where it belongs. If it were not for the big money American's make from dealings there, we would not even be a partner until they cleaned up their system. As American's we need to rise up against the injustice of one of our closest neighbors.
The mexican goverment is not "trying to punish a guy for taking Luster" They are punishing Dog for breaking there laws. The same thing Dog does to others catching people that jump bail. Dog is a bounty hunter thats what they do. I won't argue that the guy he caught was a bad guy. But when you break the law you have to pay the price.
Dog, Leland and Tim were doing their jobs. They got a rapist off the streets. They risk their lives everyday to make streets safer. They are heros in my book.
And as for \"who will do the dirty jobs and farmwork if there are no mexicans?\" AMERICANS will do the jobs. They did it before mexicans and they\'ll do it after. I know MANY teenagers who spend they\'re summers picking fruit, husking corn, bailing hay, and other hard labor jobs. AMERICANS can and will do what needs done. We don\'t need illegals here to do our jobs, it\'s just the few lazy americans who have let them. I\'m sorry, that\'s off topic, but that\'s what I believe.
I really think Mexico should change their law cause if it wasn't for Dog and the boys Luster could do what ever crime he did again. Luster could it again in Mexico and then they would say Dog was right.
america needs to stand up for our own people, and stop letting these countries like mexico jerk us around. if anybody needs to be extradited back to mexico it's the thousands of illegal mexicans that are not supose to be here! dog my prayers go out to you and your family, i wish there were more people like you and your family! keep up the good work.
My opinion as a licensed security officer myself is that Andrew Luster is seeking vengence from behind bars while in prison. I would strongly urge the authorities to look into this and put an end to it if this is true, which I suspect it is. Luster is heir to Max Factor and has the money to finance or bribe Mexican officials to do his dirty work. Its just another example of this sicko's perverted sense of justice. I think we should tell the Mexican authorities to stick it and that we know what is going on. You can't have the Dog. He's our hero.
I'm with you Dog. Sick 'em
Its amazing to me that American citizens believe that one of their own can just go willy nilly go into a foreign country without respect for that country\'s laws and do that without any reprecussions. True the guy they got deserved to be caught. But imagine if a Mexican came into the USA and extracted someone from your country illegally. I doubt if you would like it.
First I have to respone to " DJ Says" . You say that he should be brought to justice in mexico since bounty hunting is supposedly illiegal there; and as i understand it , a misdemeanor. So in that regard , every illegall that is caught atteming to get in the U.S. should be brought up on charges and not just deported, they are breaking the law , (which is more than a misdemeanor) as well. This whole episode is about a high profile person got caught doing a moral and ethical duty that most people won't or can not step up to do. so we should uphold the law for high profile peop;e, but not for everyday people crossing the border illegally. I am not criticising the people, but the Goverment for the mishandling of the situation.
I alony hope more people would stand up ans do what is moral and ethical, and not what tha public wants , cause they are not one in the same.
After watching "A&E" last night you have to realize that these are not ordinary folk. These people are dedicating there lives to catching the bad guys in the name of the Lord. Nobody could find Luster, the Dog found him and brought him back to justice. Luster was sentenced to over 120 years in jail. He was found with rape kits. Dog and his family have prevented a lot of heartache for alot of people. The U.S government should be backing Dog to the hilt. (They couldn't find Luster.) Extradited on a misdemeanor??? gimme a break
i think this is crap, we took a rapist off the streets so he cannot harm another person or rape another person. he should be awarded not sent to jail. if the mexican president wants him to go to jail then he should be impeached why would u want a cerial rapist on ur streets it doesnt make any sence....
I like Dog, and he did take a horrid man off the street - but he broke the law. And there are two things I don't understand - why didn't he find out what the legal requirements would be in Mexico (he seems to know them for every other place he goes)? And why didn't he just go down and take care of his responsibility to the court and be done with it? I'm sorry, but it sounds like his ego bushwhacked his common sense in this whole thing...
Think abot the message that were sending to individuals who want to get away with breaking the law. All they have to do is pack up their bags and high tail it to mexico. This is not acceptable. I do agree with following the rules and guidelines within Mexico to prevent this from comming back and haunting the Chapman Family. How could this have been resolved legally?
Imagine Luster targeting or commiting these crimes to someone close to you.
Thanks Dog, Leland and Tim for your dedication and compassion towards protecting others.
Well Mexico will not extradite several murder suspects that are US Citizens, with the argument that they have Mexican heritage so they are protected. Until they start sending wanted fugitives back here, we do not need to send a single person to them.
On top of that according to the Extradition Treaty between Mexico and the US the crime must be a crime in both countries. Sorry Mexico, we know what needs to be done. Maybe if you had a few Bounty hunters you would not have the crime problems you have.
I think more people should stand up for the dog he went to mexcio so what he got a rapist off the streets, somethig none esle could not do what that rapist did was awful. Just because he had money he got away raped 86 women do you people know that and was planning on doing it again. LEAVE THE DOG ALONE AND FIND PEOPLE WHO NEED TO BE PUT IN JAIL DOG YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS ALWAYS GOOD LUCK LOVE TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MICHELE
TO those that think \"Dog\" should be punished along with his best friend son because he \'broke the law\'...then shouldn\'t we all be punished for doing things such as breaking the law when we are 2 miles over the speed limit? How about \'jay-walking\'...have any of you ever done that? \"He who is without sin...let him cast the first stone\".
I know what he did was \'wrong\' in Mexico. But he did it on his own dime and took the risk. He got NOTHING for it...no reward only hassle for taking a monster off of the streets of the world...and monster that had a \'hit list\' in his Mexico hotel...a list to hurt those that testified or worked against him.
I think it is said that our government didn\'t have the \'balls\' or man-power to hunt down this vile creature. Dog did.
So how do we thank him? We treat him like he is a criminal...locking him up with those he put behind bars. Placing him under \'house arrest\' so that he cannot even do his own job.
IT isn\'t like \"Dog\" hasn\'t had his own share of tragedy...one son is in jail...he himself was in jail...a daughter killed in a car accident on his wedding day...so what if he broke the little law in Mexico...what did they do by helping to hide scum like they did and still do with the drug lords?
So the next time you speed, jay-walk, or whatever little \'crimes\' you do...remember...you may be next!
I am upset that our government would allow this to happen to a US citizen for such a minor thing...especially given the circumstances. Rumor has it, they want to trade \"Dog\" for witnesses of some type. I, on the other hand, know that money talks...and face it, the vile monster\'s family has it.
You know, they say what goes around, comes around. So I hope that those of you that think \'dog\' should be sent back...I hope the \'come around\' for you doesn\'t involve rape of yourself or someone you love. Be careful casting stones...they can bounce back and hit you!
Right to start with i don\'t know any of your laws as i am from the uk...but i think that mexico is warped!. To have a policeman present while dog was doing his buisiness, and for him not to do/say anything is total rubbish...they should do the policeman who was in the wrong for not telling dog...although i agree that dog should of taken time to check, he normally does. None of dog and crew should be jailed. Dog has done much to keep the streets cleaner and hasnt finished yet...LET HIM AND HIS CREW DO THEIR JOBS. I think they are annoyed that they didnt catch Luster.Any bit of publicity will do eh? KEEP GOING DOG, BETH, TIM,LELAND,DUANE-LEE, IF MEXICO HAVE ANY SENSE THEY WILL APOLOGISE AND SHAKE THE HAND OF THE TOP DOG!
Dog and the crew are great and sesitive people! I really enjoy the show as well as my friend Chris-chris is an adult who is mentally chalanged. I work in the field with ment. challanged. And Dog if you read this I want you to know every wednesday night it Dog and the crew he wants to see you guys are his hero he always yells Dogs my man !!! Get them bad guys!!! I hope and pray things go your way!! You guys do an excellent job! You shouldn\'t be punished for doing good!!!!!! God is on your side Take Care!!! KIM
First of all, DJ is a moron! A one-time Dog fan that now has a hate mongering agenda. Suck it up and get over it!! Idiot!!
Second of all, "Mexican laws"? Don't make me laugh!! The law is bought with pesos over there! Their so-called "criminal Justice system" is so corrupt that it's unbelievable!! Why do you think Luster went there in the first place? because he knew that his money would buy his safety from the crooked federales, that's why!
Duane Chapman did what had to be done, and it's a crime that the United States government isn't standing up for him!
Why is the USA taking orders from a pack of filthy, corrupt politicians in a dictatorship anyway? Is Bush so busy with his stupid little war that he would allow this to happen?
Remember this at voting time, people!! A political party that allows it's citizens to be kidnapped from their homes isn't one that should be in office!!
I forgot to say that my thoughts are with any family of the heir, they must be sick/and embarrased to the stomach knowing what a family member has done to so many and if they had any sense they would beg the goverment to drop the charges on dog and his crew..., IF DOG AND CREW ARE READING THIS PLEASE KNOW THAT OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH U ALL AT THIS ERROR FROM THE WRONG SIDE..i am sure i am not the only one in the uk to support you at this time, you all are great. They may try to break you all down but they will never take your spirit and passion for trying to help others that have done wrong. If i could shake you by the hand then i would but this is all i can offer! You are a friend to everyone so i shall say see you later. Be safe and aloha!
Those of you that think that he shouldnt have to go face trail in mexico are nothing but HIPOCRITS! Ever heard of double standard? The fact that he makes his living bringing people in to face the cime(s) they fled is all the more reason he should be expected to face the music for his own crimes. Do the crime, do the time! He should not even have been allowed to post bail until AFTER an extradition hearing. I guess if you are famous you are exempted from the law.
Dog,leland, and tinm are awsome for doing what they do eveyday. Not many poeple go thur what they do in a day.So if you want to dog the dog and crew try being in their boots for a day.
i agree with brian. This guy has been captureing guys with warrents and all he cares about is getting his bond. Now he really fked up and wants to say sorry and all be forgotten. Make him do his time.
I don’t understand how you all come to these conclusions. If what you all believe comes true then we (the US govt) may as well send letters to every country that the USA has extradition agreements with telling them that the agreement is a one way/one sided agreement only!!! He doesn’t deserve ANY special treatment! He has been going around making people face their crimes yet he is asking the US to exempt him from the law and his crimes. He is nothing but a hypocrite and a disgrace!!! He is no better than ANY of the people he helped bring to justice. All of you that are amenable with Dog and the proposition that he not face the music in Mexico should be ashamed of yourselves!!! This is good example of a DOUBLE STANDARD....PERIOD!
I think what Dog, Leland, and Tim did was very heroic. I do appreciate all that they do out there to get the bad boys off the street. They should be commended for their bravery to go there and get him. Seems like no one else wanted to do that. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time and I pray to God that all the charges will be dropped against you all. God Bless you and your family.
I watched the A&E show with my two daughters who just love the show. I must admit that I get drawn in too. I just wish the team wouldn\'t use so much profanity. I know it\'s beeped out, but everyone knows what that means. Out of all the reality shows, most of which are just garbage, this one actually speaks to me (and my girls).
After spending some time assessing - I have questions: I would like to know exactly what the written Mexican law is for bounty hunting. It is my understanding that an exchange of money has to be involved. DOG did not take any money, he performed a public service. There was a public official (Mexican police officier) with the team - what is his status and how come he did not intervene? In the end, Luster was extradited to the US by the Mexican government not DOG. Again, we need the Mexican written law here.
I am very sorry this is happening to DOG. I like him, and he\'s a positive role model for my girls. When we were in Hawaii, they wanted to visit DOG and tell them how much they loved his show and his family. Even if DOG didn\'t know the law, the TV production team/network legal team DID. I know because I work on TV and there are plenty of hoops one needs to jump through to bring a camera crew into the country. That said, they weren\'t just filming any other capture, it was VERY high profile - so I know the network dotted the \"i\'s and crossed the t\'s\" before anyone left on this excursion in the name of the show, network and sponsors -- that you can bank on. There isn\'t any way that any network would send their team anywhere and not know the potential risks and fallout -- it\'s about money. So, what is the network doing to help the Chapman family? At the very least, they should be covering the legal bills as they\'ve more than made their money off this show. And, the silent partner in all of this: the Max Factor family. If this is truly just Luster pulling favors then the FBI should be able to track that. But, if it\'s coming from another simpatheic family member or affluent friend, then they\'ve probably really covered their tracks. We the public can however tell this family how we feel by boycotting all Max Factor products and all their subsidaries (like Smashbox cosmestics). Luster is a predator and would not have stopped as evidenced by the drugs and equipment found in Mexico. Luster led a very priviledged life. Along with that comes the \"above the law\" mentality because of the family\'s power base/connections.
If DOG knew all the risks and went any way, then he did the wrong thing for the right reasons and I can not fault him for that. He took a big risk but got his man - not just any man, but a very, very rich man with a connected and powerful family. I don\'t believe that the US government should send DOG and team to Mexico for this given it\'s a misdemeanor. Again, this is where the written Mexican law would come in handy. I fear that because DOG is a celebrity he will be made an example. I hope that DOG and his family stay strong. I can\'t imagine how frightening this looming clould must be.
Here is the simple facts that should end this ridiculous debate. The fact of the matter is that Andrew Luster was a wanted criminal that fled to Mexico. The U.S. Government has on many occasions, including this one, attempted to negotiate with Mexico to extradite wanted criminals.
It has been long known that Mexico is a safe haven for criminals wanting to escape prosecution. With this kind of reputation, how can Mexico expect their laws to be followed and executed when they themselves let criminals into their country?
I live in canada and feel DOG has do a great favor to all ,getting these rapeish of th streets, he should now be tried for donig the world a great favor, and they should be free to do the job were are peoples minds at do they want these bad guy on the streets to do it all over again and again, let dog free he a good man ,he belives in our GOD and i will pray for him.Free dog beforesomeone does more.GOD BLESS the dog and him family always
Get real.A corrupt Mexico\'s system with cops that that pull you over and dont ticket you cause all they want is pesos and ck points 19 of them if you drive to Belize and all 19 are there for pay offs only.Sure mexico is mad for they have not made enough pesos yet on this. The cerial rapist was paying them off and now they dont have him any more so DOG they need you to pay now.Sorry Dog i like you but this will cost you with a big name like yours 1 million dollars and you will be free.Oo by the way look up the 20/20 program where they checked all the #s on the trucks at three dif. police stations in mexico and almost every one of the police and the chief were driving stolen cars from texas. So now i wonder how many more girls got raped over there.NOW ALL I WANT TO SAY IS ALL YOU NICE PEOPLE THAT THINK DOG NEEDS TO GO BACK OVER THERE TO A CORRUPT MEXICO SO CALL SYSTEM OF JUSTICE,THAT IS RUN ON UNDER THE TABLE MONEY THEN I HOPE YOUR CHILDREN, WIFES, CAN ALL GET RAPED TOO AND LET THAT RAPIST GO TO MEXICO AND NOT PAY FOR WHAT THE RAPIST DID.THEN YOU SICKO\'S CAN TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT DOG DID FOR YOU!!!!!p0epd0e@ev1.net
The US is a nation of laws, and we have an extradition treaty with Mexico. Dog's extradition is legal. He admits did not show up for a hearing. Extradition is our arm of the law in foreign countries. You don't really want to harm it by arbitrarily ignoring it for one famous guy. Look, I have no beef with Dog, but he isn't worth our trashing extradition treaties with other countries. No worries, I'll tell you how this eventually plays out: Dog sincerely apologies for having disregarded Mexican law and makes a fat contribution to some Mexican law enforcement association, and agrees never to cross the border again (which, under the circumstances, I'm sure he would have no problem with). You and I, as non-celebs, would never be given this kind of break. Celebrity goes a long way to helping you out of a pickle. Heck, you'll probably even contribute to his release fund so he doesn't have to break into his millions.
There isa reason he's called DOG because tha's exactly what he is , besides being stupid I played him and his fat foul mouth.
He's a common criminal from texas who used to take in in the ass in prison there, {They made him grow his hair long cause it was so pretty especially when he wore his daisy dukes.
After he got out he played that fat ugly bitch Beth for her money and basicly a job. He did'nt have enough game to get the money cause she wears the pants as is evident if you ever watched the show.
I conned those fools to bail me out in Hawaii in which I was supposed to call in do this and that but if you have ever had any contact with that stupid bitch you can only take so much of her.
While out on bail I was running crack cocaine back and forth from the mainland and even pick up anew case in California right under their stupid noses. They have to be the most stupid marks I've ever dealt with in my life.
they try and make him look like hes areal bounty but where does he work and with who?? On a little witha bunch of stupid hawaianswho cant leave the little rock they live on, wow what a hard thing to do. Find people on a little rock where everyone knows everyone telling them where there are for him to go pick them up atheir Aunties ho
use 3 miles away.
The show should be a comedy and called "Dog the prison bitch, the dumbest bounty hunter in the world.
I'm sure by now Beth has had a sex change as with Doggie so the true sex of each other can now come out of the closet. Doggie baby it's o.k. to be gay now, don't you feel better? now you can wear your daisy dukes in public and not be ashamed!! You fucking FAG.
That's right I beat you and that fat bitch like a bass drum and you both never even knew untill now .
