Whether organizing protests, forwarding campaigns or getting the word out about a new product quickly, the Internet is capable of mobilizing thousands or even millions of people very quickly. Sometimes this power is used for good. Sometimes it’s flat-out misused, and now and again, some geniuses implement it for hilarity. It’s pretty clear which category this story slides into.

Wal-Mart and Sheets-brand Energy Stripes are currently running a contest on Facebook that will send rapper Pitbull to whatever Wal-Mart in the United States receives the most likes by July 15. Sensing an opportunity, the guys over at Something Awful decided to convince fans to vote for the most remote, desolate Walmart in the United States, which is apparently located in Kodiak, Alaska and offers such interesting products as bear repellant.

With more than two weeks to go, Kodiak’s Walmart already boasts more likes than residents, and if the hilarious campaign continues at this rate, Pitbull will end up heading into the Alaskan wilderness to peddle his Energy Stripes up North. It’s unclear how he might feel about this surprising turn, but if nothing else, he should get a pretty funny story and an interesting experience out of it.

If you’d like to stay updated on how the plot is going, you can head over to Twitter where the campaign is being run under the hashtag #ExilePitbull.
