Wow. Let me count all of the things inherently wrong with this story. Troubled New York Football Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself (1) at a nightclub (2) late last night (3), while his wife and one year old son were at home (4). His injuries are being described as non-life threatening, though details, at this point, could be described as muddled, at best.
According to The New York Daily News, Plaxico spent the night in a Manhattan hospital and did not board the team flight (5) to Washington this afternoon. He was not expected to play tomorrow anyway because of a hamstring injury. At least he’s healthy enough to go clubbing (6).
What the hell is wrong with Plaxico Burress? After holding out in training camp (7), the former Michigan State (8) star has been fined numerous times this season and even suspended once for failing to show up to practice (9). The dustups and missed meetings have cost him more than two hundred thousand dollars this season alone (10).
It’s a known fact that Giants’ coach Tom Coughlin hates Plaxico’s guts. Here’s to hoping General Manager Jerry Reese finally lets Coughlin throw Burress and his shitty attitude off the team.
