California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had surgery this weekend (beg16Aug08) to repair a knee injury he recently suffered while working out.
The Austrian-American movie star, who was elected into California state office in 2003, was in good spirits following the operation on Saturday (16Aug08) - and even attended church the following day, walking without assistance, his representative reports.
Spokesperson Matt David says the knee "was just giving him a lot of discomfort," and that the actor had "said the surgery went well".
The arthroscopic operation, which took 45 minutes, is the second time the 61-year-old has been under the doctor's knife in 20 months. He had surgery in December 2006 after fracturing his right femur in a skiing accident. (PAW/WNWCCC/ZN)
