Earlier this week, Marilyn Manson took the stage for a Los Angeles concert and dedicated a song to Paris Jackson. The fifteen-year-old is an admitted Manson fanatic, and since she reportedly fought with her guardians about attending the singer’s concert prior to her suicide attempt, he obviously thought giving her a shoutout would be a nice gesture.

Unfortunately, the impulse behind that dedication has largely been overshadowed by something that happened later in Manson’s concert. During a completely different song, the rocker took out a blade and pretended to cut his wrist. It’s an act he’s done countless times during his concerts before, but because of the recent dedication to Jackson and her suicide attempt, the media has had a field day with painting Manson as an unfeeling monster.

On the one hand, it’s hard to blame Marilyn for continuing to use a prop that he’s hauled onto stage for years. He can’t be expected to amend everything in his arsenal just because of one tragic situation that happened. On the other hand, however, if the situation with Paris was on his mind, it’s hard to see how he didn’t realize the wrist cutting situation would be taken the wrong way by a lot of those in attendance.

What do you think? Should Manson feel bad about the wrist cutting gesture? Let us know where you stand by voting in the poll below…
