Tawny Kitaen Sues For Fraud
Actress JULIE 'TAWNY' KITAEN is suing her ex, PHILIP CYBURT, for stealing more than $3 million (#1.5 million) from her during their four-year relationship.
Kitaen has accused Cyburt of committing "a betrayal of the most personal in nature", claiming he used her credit cards without her knowledge and forged her signature to withdraw money from her accounts.
In legal papers filed on Monday (13Aug07) in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the 46-year-old claims she "thought she had finally found the man of her dreams in (Cyburt). She believed this was a man she could trust, depend on, and share her life with. She never imagined this seemingly honest and caring man would slither into her life only to rob her."
Kitaen started dating real estate executive Cyburt in July 2002 and moved in together the following month (Aug02).
She alleges she only became aware of "significant funds missing" from her bank account in December 2005, when she also noticed "unauthorised credit card charges, fraudulently issued checks, and a bizarre chain of titles on her real estate holdings".
Kitaen, who split from Cyburt in February 2006, is seeking $3 million (#1.5
million) in general damages.
But the legal action has taken Cyburt by "complete surprise".
He tells TMZ.com, "The lawsuit took me by complete surprise and I have no further comment."
