Thievery In Madrid: Winona Claims Innocence

Someone call in Belgian detective savant Hercule Poirot; we got ourselves a mystery of Agatha Christie proportions. Here are the facts: Winona Ryder (fresh off her airport snafu) went to Madrid for a special Marie Claire event. The company entrusted the actress with a dress, shoes, and one hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars worth of jewelry. Winona attended the event, returned to her room, and checked out, leaving the items on loan in her room. When employees for Marie Claire entered the suite to retrieve the items, the jewelry was gone, leaving all involved to scratch their heads and wonder what the hell happened.
According to TMZ, initial stories of Winona leaving the items with the front desk are false. The Heathers star reportedly looked for reps from the company, but when none could be found, she returned the hefty merchandise to her room. So, what the hell did happen? Well, it seems as if Winona either boosted the bling bling herself (unlikely), or a very clever thief, knowing Ryder’s history of umm stealing merchandise, grabbed the loot for himself, hoping suspicions would fall on the actress.
