Recently deceased journalist Tim Russert has been honored with his own highway. Route 20A, which runs adjacent to the Buffalo Bills’ home field Ralph Wilson Stadium, has now been officially dubbed Timothy J. Russert Highway. The nomenclature alteration is a fitting tribute for a man who proudly touted his love for the Buffalo Bills at every turn.
According to ABC News, the legislation was first proposed by New York State Senators Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton. I’m actually a little torn on this one. Tim Russert always seemed like a great guy, but contrary to what the short-memorized press might tell you, he frequently lobbed up soft-ball questions to politicians he hoped would continue to frequent his show. Oh well. The man loved upstate New York and that, in and of itself, is a feat worth immortalizing on a road sign.
Russert passed away on June 13th from a heart attack at the age of fifty-eight. He is survived by a wife and one son, Luke.
