For a movie that grossed more than a billion dollars, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon didn’t exactly leave a ton of people elated about the possibility of another installment. In fact, many left the theater thinking it was time for the franchise to go in another direction. As of this morning, that new direction officially walked through the door.

Thanks to a vigorous Internet campaign and director Michael Bay’s willingness to listen, Mark Wahlberg has officially been hired to take over the lead actor duties from Shia LaBeouf. Consequently, there has been a torrent of new excitement about the fourth film set to be released in 2014. Hardcore enthusiasts of the franchise seem to be very pleased with this decision, but as for the bigger critics of the series, it’s unclear whether this will be enough to get them back on board.

Wahlberg has always had a talent for embracing and going with mediocre material. He’s sold the hell out of some bad projects in the past. Given his personal popularity and the popularity of the larger franchise, it’s highly likely the film will turn a tidy profit, but just how big of a profit will depend on whether people who are just meh on the series turn up.

So, the question is, will Mark Wahlberg get you out of the house to see this film in two years? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
