Twilight scribe Stephenie Meyer has spent the past week in Park Slope, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival pitching her new film adaptation Austenland, which is about a place where people can vacation and play within the settings of Jane Austen’s novels. During one of her promotional appearances, she was asked about the possibility of ever creating a Twilightland, and believe it or not, she couldn’t be less interested. In fact, she thinks the basic concept is downright boring.
Here’s a portion of the actual quote, as per MTV…
"It would be so boring! What, would you go to high school? Would you have to go to high school for it? That's not a vacation. Sounds awful. I don't want to go back to high school."
I get why Meyer might not be that excited by vacationing in the world of Twilight at this point in her life, but given how crazy the fanaticism surrounding the novels and movies have been over the past few years, she might be blowing a serious money-making opportunity. Yes, some details would need to be worked out, and there would need to be a way to recreate some of the cooler experiences from Twilight, but I don’t see why experts couldn’t figure out how to offer extreme rock climbing, chances to fly around on ropes and even a historical vampire tour through the centuries.
What do you think? If you were given the chance to visit Twilightland, would you do it? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
