Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet got into a verbal altercation with a dreaded Cardinals fan during a Los Angeles Dodgers game earlier this weekend. Initial reports claimed the actor got the heave-ho from the stadium, but he would like his fans to know the repercussions were not nearly that bad.
The incident went down during Saturday’s game in a section of the lower tier. The mystery Cardinals fan allegedly taunted a Dodger, and Stonestreet responded with a few choice words. The argument between the two supposedly got a bit heated, but no sort of violence was ever threatened. According to TMZ, security guards quickly descended on the scene and ushered the two men out of the section.
Here’s what Stonestreet said about the incident on his Twitter…
”i did NOT get kicked out of the Dodgers game last night. did i get escorted to the top of the stairs by security? yes. yes i sure did.”
Given no one involved was threatening to attack each other or do anything that would have produced lasting repercussions, it’s easy to laugh about the whole thing. Besides, it’s likely the security guards have been on the lookout for any kind of problem behavior since the well-publicized fight a few years back.
Stonestreet has long been a big LA sports fan. He was photographed several times last year at Los Angeles Kings games, and he once threw out the first pitch at a Dodgers game.
