During times of tragedy, we look to our leaders to offer wisdom and to present a formal message to the rest of the world. That’s what we did after Pearl Harbor with Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and that’s what we’ve done countless time with everyone from George W Bush after 9/11 to Barack Obama after Osama Bin Laden’s death.

Today was no different. Just hours after two explosions went off near the finish line at the Boston Marathon, President Obama walked to the podium and offered the roughly three minute speech embedded above. He very pointedly did not use the word “terrorism” to describe what happened, likely because that word has become interlinked with foreign extremists over the past decade and a half and the President didn’t want to imply a connection when that hasn’t been identified. That being said, he did make it clear the United States will hunt down and find out the people responsible for this and will make them answer for this regrettable action.

Like the President, Pop Blend sends out its sincerest thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Boston area, as well as everyone else affected by this tragedy. With tears, time and the resilience that makes America great, we will get through this.
