The easiest reason for why human beings play games might be to kill time, but the truth is actually a whole lot more complicated than that. We join leagues and compete against one another in order to bond, earn rewards, simplify life and even develop our brains. There’s something about the clear cut nature of poker or Clue or hockey that’s refreshing when compared against the ambiguity of life, and there’ something about the satisfaction of winning that improves our moods and helps us find happiness.

At least that’s what V Sauce thinks, and after explaining things like why we have two nostrils, why we don’t really know what other people are seeing and why we use less of our brains for certain activities, I’ve learned to value his opinion pretty highly. He’s like the Internet’s answer to the Mythbuster dudes. Plus, everything he says makes complete logical sense. Now and again, he’ll pose a question that sounds absurd (like why don’t we taxidermy human beings), but there’s always a whole lot of logic to it once you sit down and watch the video.

He doesn’t cover it in this video, but I would be willing to bet a solid amount of money that V Sauce is a complete whiz at Monopoly.
