It’s time to celebrate the Christmas/ Chanukah/ Kwanza/ Festivus Holiday season, so here at Cinema Blend we’re enjoying Twelve Days of Christmas. Yes, we know traditionally the “12 days” start with Christmas, but we plan on being celebrated out by that time, so we’re pushing the twelve days leading up to the holiday.
Here at DVD Blend, we’re celebrating by suggesting some of the more impressive DVD sets to come out this year. Think of the list as a buying guide for the movie fanatic in your life, just in case you haven’t thought of something for them already.
On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
The complete show about nothing
One of the most influential shows to hit television finished it’s season-by-season DVD releases this year, and the studio closed things with a fantastic set for those who hadn’t been picking up each season: Seinfeld - The Complete Series. Not only do you get all nine seasons of the critically acclaimed sitcom, but you also get a coffee table book, highlighting photos, trivia, and popular quotes from the show, and also an extra disc including an hourlong roundtable discussion with the Seinfeld cast and creator Larry David.
There’s not much that can be said about Seinfeld that hasn’t been said before. The show wasn’t afraid to push boundaries and take on more “taboo” topics with a smirk and a grin. While I wasn’t a huge fan for the show’s entire run, it’s always a fun series to revisit.
If you pick up the set at Best Buy, you also get a limited edition refrigerator packaging, with magnets. I’m not sure it’s worth a special trip to the store, especially on Christmas Eve, but it’s a neat option to have.
The perfect gift for… sitcom fans, social commentary fans, fans of nothing at all.
