It’s time to celebrate the Christmas/ Chanukah/ Kwanza/ Festivus Holiday season, so here at Cinema Blend we’re enjoying Twelve Days of Christmas. Yes, we know traditionally the “12 days” start with Christmas, but we plan on being celebrated out by that time, so we’re pushing the twelve days leading up to the holiday.
Here at DVD Blend, we’re celebrating by suggesting some of the more impressive DVD sets to come out this year. Think of the list as a buying guide for the movie fanatic in your life, just in case you haven’t thought of something for them already.
On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
Heroes on HD DVD
Heroes may be suffering a sophomore slump (which creator Tim Kring has apologized for) but the first season was one of television’s shining moments. Now you can enjoy the series in a more cinematic style, watching episodes consecutively, which helps remedy some of the anti-climatic endings season one had (not helped by an ad campaign that spoiled some of those endings before we saw them).
If you’ve got it as an option, HD DVD is definitely the way to go for season one of Heroes. You get all of the episodes in crystal clear HD clarity as well as a ton of extras including an alternate version of the pilot episode, deleted footage, and more. Even if Season Two doesn’t improve (after the writer’s strike), at least you can look back at the promise of the first season with a really beautiful picture.
Of course, non HD owning people can pick up Heroes Season One on standard DVD, but Santa wants to bring them the HD version too.
The perfect gift for… anyone with an HD DVD player, or any fan of Heroes who might be considering getting one.
