It’s time to celebrate the Christmas/ Chanukah/ Kwanza/ Festivus Holiday season, so here at Cinema Blend we’re enjoying Twelve Days of Christmas. Yes, we know traditionally the “12 days” start with Christmas, but we plan on being celebrated out by that time, so we’re pushing the twelve days leading up to the holiday.
Here at DVD Blend, we’re celebrating by suggesting some of the more impressive DVD sets to come out this year. Think of the list as a buying guide for the movie fanatic in your life, just in case you haven’t thought of something for them already.
On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
A so-called collection of My So-Called Life
Much like Twin Peaks, I never got into My So-Called Life during its television run, but my appreciation of Claire Danes in movies like Terminator 3 and Stardust kind of make me wish I had. Now I have the chance as the entire series of My So-Called Life is available on DVD. Of course, “the entire series” consists of one 19 episode season, but still, it’s out there.
This isn’t the first time My So-Called Life has been available on DVD, but the previous version came out five years ago and went out of print as distribution rights shifted. This year’s release marks the first time you could get the series for a price that didn’t involve mortgaging your house or selling your car.
The perfect gift for… people fed up by the all too clean atmosphere of teen shows like Saved by the Bell or 90210, or someone who’s been captivated by Danes other work and wants to see what else the actress has done.
