Wizard of Gore Materializes On DVD Next Week

Wizard of Gore has pretty much flown under my radar, which is surprising for a horror movie starring Crispin Glover. His involvement alone would usually be enough to catch my eye. Add in other character favorites like Jeffrey Combs (Reanimator) and Brad Dourif (Child’s Play) and you’ve got potential for a lot of gory fun.

Most likely the movie has escaped your radar as well. After all, it comes out on DVD next week (August 19th) and we’ve barely heard anything about it. Now we’ve got some details and it’s definitely a flick I’m going to have to check out.

The story is a remake of the 1970s classic picture by the same name. In the remake, Crispin Glover plays an illusionist named Montag the Magnificent, who horrifies audiences with an act that includes dismembering and killing women on stage. The audience is relieved when the women turn up alright at the end of the act, but when they are found dead the next day, killed in the same fashion viewers saw on stage, the world of illusion collides with reality.

Wizard of Gore also stars Bijou Phillisp (Hostel II) and Kip Pardue (Remember the Titans) and was directed by Jeremy Kasten.
