Put out of your mind, if you will, the unfortunate live-action versions of everyone's favorite stoner/talking dog crimesolving team, and instead think back to happier, more innocent times. Long Saturday mornings, high-sugar cereals, and a never-ending parade of nefarious evildoers who "would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you kids." Scooby Doo is just one of the many icons of my youth that has been dragged out and violated by the drunken oaf that is Hollywood. But thanks to the magic of DVD, I can always throw those better memories in the player and do my level best to forget all about Matthew Lillard's Shaggy impression. Although I think I'll hang onto my memories of Sarah Michelle Gellar in the Daphne costume...
Did I have a point? Of course I did, and that point is that Warner Bros. Home Video has announced the impending release of Scooby Doo Where Are You!: Complete Series (their punctuation, not mine), and it'll be arriving in style this November 9th. And by "in style" I mean "in a snazzy-looking Mystery Machine gift case," which you can see below. Is it a sign that the set will be dropping around the same time as my equally impending twin boys? I like to think so. All I know is that between this and the Real Ghostbusters set I picked up last year, the kiddos have got plenty to keep them from falling prey to Pokemon.
