Amanda Seyfried Fools Around With Julianne Moore And Liam Neeson In High-Def July 13th
Sadly, regardless of how good or bad director Atom Egoyan's erotic thriller Chloe may be, it will always be known as "that one where Amanda Seyfried makes out with Julianne Moore." Egoyan loves him some eroticism, but if he was hoping to traffic in taboo on that count, he probably should have put the DVD out prior to the MTV Movie Awards, where Sandra Bullock's half-hearted liplock with Scarlett Johannson officially killed faux lesbianism as titillative performance art. Not so dead that we won't calculatedly tease it in this post's title in order to drive up our traffic, but still...
If our own Perri Nemiroff is to be believed, Chloe might actually be worth a viewing for those interested in more than masturbatory rubbernecking. If all you've heard about the flick is the naughty gossip, here's what you need to know: doctor Catherine (Moore) is married to professor David (Neeson), whom she suspects may be cheating on her. As absolutely no one with a lick of sense would ever do, she hires a hooker (Seyfried) to try to seduce David and thus prove his infedelitous nature. Shockingly, this doesn't go as planned, and as near as I can tell, pretty soon everybody is banging everybody else, much like the later seasons of Friends only with more exposed nipples.
Both the Blu-ray ($34.95) and DVD ($27.96) versions of the film will include what's bound to be a very awkward commentary with Seyfried, director Egoyan, and screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson, some deleted scenes, and a making-of featurette.
