Bram Stoker's Dracula Gets Remastered

It’s been a while since Keanu Reeves has gotten bashed for his classical roles. I guess the time has come to revisit those complaints, because Sony has announced a new 2-disc Special Edition of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Francis Ford Coppola’s adaptation of Stoker’s classic novel.
Thankfully Reeves performance (which I didn’t actually think was all that bad) is overshadowed by the genius of Gary Oldman who plays such a diverse Dracula (young and old, man and beast) that there really isn’t anything else that stands out in the memory of the movie. Well, nothing besides Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing. And frankly, Winona Rider is pretty good too. Actually, the movie’s pretty doggone brilliant. There’s not a whole lot of details on what else to expect in the 2-disc set (available also on Blu-ray), although word is Coppola will do a commentary track, and the movie itself will be remastered. The Special Edition of Bram Stoker’s Dracula is set for release on October 2nd. Check out the artwork below:
