DVD Pick Of The Week: Battlestar Galactica 4.0

DVD Pick Of The Week: Battlestar Galactica 4.0 There’s a lot of pulpy fun coming out this week, from the entirety of Vin Diesel’s career boiled down into one movie (Babylon A.D.) to the drug powered double feature of The Wackness and Pineapple Express. Few of those movies are about quality though, instead surviving on guilty laughter and big-bang explosions.

Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.0, on the other hand, has quality content to spare. Sure, the season is a little short due to the writers’ strike, which turned season four into a two-part season (4.0 and 4.5), much like season two. The result is a box set that is a little shorter on episodes then I’d like, but what is here is an astounding new chapter in the series that isn’t afraid to shift its dynamic every chance it gets. The DVD producers even try to make up for the lack of episodes by adding in Razor. Most fans probably already have the feature-length BSG story on DVD, but at least it’s something. As for the sets sneak peeks into Season 4.5 and the spin-off Caprica… don’t expect much and you’ll be happy with the tiny bit they’ve included here.
