Futurama Heads Into The Wild Green YonderAuthor: Rafe Telsch

Futurama has had a pretty good run on DVD - especially considering the show was cancelled five years ago. Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and Futurama’s extended life on DVD through original movies is about to draw to a close. But before the crew of Planet Express rides off into the sun (it’s space, so it can’t be setting, right?), they have one more direct-to-DVD movie headed your way.
Fox has announced details for the final feature-length Futurama movie, Into the Wild Green Yonder, which will guest star Snoop Dogg, Penn Jillette, and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. So what’s the movie about? Who knows, but the press release says something about Bender in love with a married Fembot, Ancient Darkness three years older than time itself threatening the known universe, and Leela on the run from Zapp Brannigan’s law, with Fry serving as the last hope of the Universe - which means the Universe is probably not where you want to be. Oh, and Into the Wild Green Yonder will also finally reveal the truth about “Number 9 Man.” I should mention, the press release also puts a huge question mark alongside this being the final feature-length direct-to-DVD offering, which makes me wonder if the franchise hasn’t continued to be successful enough to keep going. We’ll see, I guess. Here’s what you can expect to find on Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder, which hits DVD and Blu-ray on February 24th.
