If you love puppets and parodies than you should check out one of this week’s overlooked gems, The Passion of Greg the Bunny: Best of the Film Parodies, Volume 2. I say “overlooked” because today, the release date for this DVD, is the first I’m hearing about it, which is a little too late to help build excitement over the title.
If you’re only familiar with Greg the Bunny from his limited Fox series, then you’re missing out on a very good thing. The character managed to survive the show’s cancellation and started appearing on IFC in movie parodies along with Warren “The Ape” Demontague (both created by Dan Milano). Some of the best of their work has already appeared in a previous DVD volume, but there’s more bunny goodness than one disc can hold, giving us this second DVD.
Among the movie parodies included on this second volume is a Freaky Friday take-off that sees Warren and Greg swap bodies in Wacky Wednesday, an send-up of Blue Velvet (appropriately titled Blue Velveteen), and Plush: Behind the Seems, a rock-doc spoof. Also included is the Greg the Bunny reunion special, which saw the return of Seth Green, Adam Goldberg, Sarah Silverman, and Jon Favreau to the world of Greg. They’ve also thrown in some deleted scenes and footage from the early public access days of the character for good measure. Check out a complete list of bonus material below:
