Harry Potter And The December DVD

2007 has already been the year of Harry Potter, with Order of the Phoenix hitting theaters this summer and The Deathly Hallows hitting shelves shortly thereafter. Now Warner Brothers is following up by making sure the boy wizard gets to DVD shelves before the year is out, giving fans one more gift to request at Christmas time.

Warner Brothers has announced December 11th as the arrival date for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, coming to all formats (Warner Brothers hasn’t taken sides in the high def wars yet) in several different editions: single disc (minor fan edition), two-disc special edition (major fan edition), and a 12-disc giftset that includes two-disc editions of all the Harry Potter movies to date packed inside a collectable “suitcase” (move out of your mother’s basement edition).

Each different version contains different bonus material, which is kind of interesting. The HD DVD edition doesn’t include all the material on the two-disc edition according to the press release, which has different material from the Blu-ray version. I can’t say I’m thrilled with that, because it looks like you’ll have to buy several different versions to get all the goodies. Interestingly, the deleted footage included is longer than the rumored footage we previously reported, which means there is more out there than people are aware of. Very cool.

Two-Disc Special Edition DVD special features:

ROM – This will include a timeline, a link to sneaks of HP6, along with other materials.

HD/DVD combo special features:
Additional Scenes: 17 minutes of never-before-seen footage.
Trailing Tonks - Spend a day with Actress Nat Tena and receive a very personal and often wacky tour of the Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix stages.
In Movie Experience - Join the cast from Dumbledore’s Army as they come together to share memorable moments.
Harry Potter: The Magic of Editing - Director David Yates and Editor Mark Day show what a difference a good edit makes to allow the viewers to edit a scene.
Web-Enabled Features:
- Pick Your Favorite Scene - Assemble favorite clips from the movie to create a montage.
- Live Community Screening – Viewers can create, organize, and invite their buddies to their very own screening.
- Mobile Downloads – Viewers can scan and select cool images and ringtones to send to their mobile phones.

Blu-ray special features:
