In The Name Of The King Lacks Boll's Extended Cut

By Rafe Telsch: 2008-02-12 20:51:16
In The Name Of The King Lacks Boll's Extended Cut When we talked with Uwe Boll about his latest video game adaptation, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, the director talked about his excitement for the DVD release of the movie, which would feature an extended cut that expanded on some of the individual character story arcs that couldn’t be included in the theatrical cut. Although I could do with a little less Boll film in the world, it was an interesting peek at things to come.

So imagine my surprise today when Fox announced an April 15th DVD release for the movie and nothing like an extended or alternate cut of the movie was to be found anywhere in the press materials. Although the DVD is being described as “armored with bonus features” like deleted scenes and behind the scenes featurettes, this is actually looking like a pretty skimpy release, especially considering what Boll talked about. We'd know, too, because we're the site that called the movie "a grand, epic adventure" according to the artwork. Hell, that practically makes us an authority on this movie.

So is this a potential double-dip for In the Name of the King? Was Boll speaking out of place or is his vision just not happening? We don’t know. For now we have the artwork (below), the release date (April 15th) and that’s about it. More details as we get them.
