It's Lights Out When City Of Ember Comes To DVD

It's Lights Out When City Of Ember Comes To DVD The lights are going to flicker. And no, I don’t mean the lights on the Christmas tree. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will bring you to the City of Ember when it’s released on DVD January 20th.

In an effort to save mankind, an underground city was built. Unfortunately, the city was only designed to last for 200 years and time is running out. The people of Ember are terrified as resources run dry and their precious generator begins to fail. The city’s only hope is two teenagers, Doon (Harry Treadaway) and Lina (Saoirse Ronan), who must do all they can to find a solution to the city’s structural problems in addition to eluding the corrupt politicians, including Mayor Cole (Bill Murray), who stand in their way.

Even though City of Ember didn’t light up at the box office, it could be a good option for some home entertainment. With fascinating set designs and some exciting action sequences the film must be somewhat entertaining. The story, which comes from a book of the same title by Jeanne Duprau, is a novel and rather intriguing concept. Even if the majority of moviegoers opted out of this one, I might have to spend the $29.98 due to curiosity.

  • Don't shell out the full price for a, potentially, bare-bones DVD release that is sure to be 5.99 within weeks, but do check it out. It was actually a really good film, and it's a terrible shame that it didn't do well at the cinema. Publicity for the film should have been better, but at the time, the world was so focused on The Dark Knight (still!) that no film marketing could have broken through.
