I have to admit I like it when Hollywood puts out movies that turns the lens on tinsel town itself. After all, who better to point out the flaws in the Hollywood machine then the very people who have been ground up by that machine?
The Deal looks like a movie along those lines with a cast so large I have to wonder why I haven’t heard more about it. William H. Macy plays Charlie Berns, a veteran Hollywood movie producer with a long chain of bad luck. When his screenwriter nephew brings him a fantastic script, Charlie turns his proposal to the studios into one of the biggest hustles of the industry, but Charlie’s executive (Meg Ryan), soon catches onto Charlie’s scheme. The cast for The Deal also includes LL Cool J, Elliot Gould, and Jason Ritter.
The Deal is headed for DVD and Blu-ray on January 20th from Peace Arch Home Entertainment. Don’t look for a ton of extras on this release though, as the disc only includes a behind the scenes featurette and a digital copy of the movie.
