DreamWorks has announced the release of one of the year’s best movies, Kung Fu Panda on Blu-Ray and DVD. It hits shelves on November 9th, and when it does it will come with a surprise.
In an unprecedented move, the two-disc edition of the film will come bundled with an entirely new, Kung Fu Panda film. It’s a direct-to-dvd sequel called Secrets of the Furious Five. Unlike most direct-to-DVD sequels, they’ve done this one up right, bringing along Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman to voice their characters from the theatrical film. Below we’ve got all the details on the release, along with cover art. Watch for it on November 9th: In Secrets of the Furious Five, Po faces what may be his greatest challenge: trying to teach a class of young Kung Fu students. To gain the unruly group’s attention, he leans on the one thing closest to his heart—his Kung Fu fan-boy knowledge. Secrets of the Furious Five further expands on the stories of Monkey, Tigress, Mantis, Viper and Crane as Po relates how they unlocked important lessons to become truly excellent in the art and ideals of Kung Fu. The Kung Fu Panda/Secrets of the Furious Five Pandamonium Double Pack presentation is over-stuffed with behind-the-scenes features filled with hilarity and activities that pack a punch. Viewers can explore the animals depicted in the films, follow a tutorial on drawing their favorite characters, go behind-the-scenes to meet the cast, find out about the sound design, learn the Panda Dance, watch a “Kung Fu Fighting” music video, delve into Mr. Ping’s noodle house, figure out what fighting style they are, download printables and game demos and much, much more. In a choreographed move with powerful retail support, Kung Fu Panda/Secrets of the Furious Five will create Pandamonium with a Sunday release date. Capitalizing on additional family traffic, the debut will be supported by a massive marketing program including a multi-million dollar advertising campaign that will generate hundreds of millions of impressions across national television, print and online media outlets. In addition, DVD messaging will be extended further through promotional partnerships with a wide range of companies including Carl’s Jr./Hardees, Chuck E. Cheese, ConAgra (Chef Boyardee, Hunt’s Snack Packs, Cheff Pizza Kids, Peter Pan), Energizer, Hubba Bubba, Kellogg’s and Bank of America. A far-reaching publicity campaign for Kung Fu Panda/Secrets of the Furious Five also is being implemented leading up to street date and throughout the holiday season.
