The Nazi-killin’ business was a-boomin’ in theaters, and I’d like to bet it’ll be a-boomin’ on DVD and Blu-ray too. On December 15th Universal Home Video will release Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds on DVD and Blu-ray. What else is there do say except “That’s a bingo!”

Brad Pitt stars as Lt. Aldo Raine, the leader of the Nazi’s worst nightmare, “The Basterds.” With his second in command, Sgt. Donnie Donowitz (Eli Roth), the infamous baseball-bat-swinging "Bear Jew," he leads his men into France to destroy every Nazi that crosses their path. They conspire with German actress Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger), to take out as much of the Nazi higher command as possible at the premiere of “The Nation’s Pride,” a propaganda film detailing the exploits of German war hero Fredrick Zoller (Daniel Brühl). Meanwhile, Shoshanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) is planning an attack of her own. She’s posing as a French citizen after watching her family brutally murdered by Col. Hans Landa (Christopher Waltz). She happens to own the theater in which “The Nation’s Pride” will play and is eager for revenge.

In case you were living under a rock this summer, Inglourious Basterds is a must-own. You’ll have three buying options to choose from: a single-disc DVD, a two-disc special edition DVD, and a two-disc special edition BD. All three come with extended and alternate scenes, the entire film “Nation’s Pride,” and domestic and international trailers. Bumping up to either special edition will add on the following:
  • Roundtable Discussion with Quentin Tarantino, Brad Pitt, and film historian/critic Elvis Mitchell
  • The Making of Nation’s Pride
  • The Original Inglourious Bastards – a salute to the original 1978 film
  • A Conversation with veteran actor Rod Taylor
  • Rod Taylor on Victoria Bitters, the Australian beer
  • Quentin Tarantino’s Camera Angel
  • Hi Sallys – Gag Reel
  • Film Poster Gallery Tour with Elvis Mitchell
  • Inglourious Basterds Poster Gallery
  • Digital Copy of Inglourious Basterds
Lastly, the Blu-ray edition will provide access to BD-Live.

Of course, the single-disc version is the most affordable of the bunch at $29.98, but it shouldn’t even be an option. You’re going to want as much of the Basterds as possible, and that means going for one of the two special editions. Unless you’re totally hooked on the clarity of Blu-ray or are an avid BD-Live user, you’ll be fine with either the two-disc BD at $39.98 or the two-disc DVD at $34.98.

Box art has yet to be unveiled, but we’ll let you know when it’s available.
