To no one’s surprise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest is on its way to being one of the biggest selling live-action DVDs of all time. Scratch that, the biggest seller of all time.
Walt Disney’s Dead Man’s Chest sold a whopping $5 million copies this Tuesday, it’s first day on store shelves. That makes it the #1 selling DVD of the holiday season, and Disney’s Buena Vista Home Video now could end up owning three of the top three selling DVD releases of the year in Dead Man’s Chest, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and Cars. The second Pirates of the Caribbean movie is already the biggest theatrical smash in domestic history. It beat Spider-Man 3’s all time opening weekend record this summer when it did $135 million in a single weekend. |
