They say all roads lead to Rome. Okay, I’ve actually never heard anyone say that, but I read it somewhere once. But what do you do when you can only follow that road for a couple of weeks, but then you still have several major setpieces to shoot for your summer action tentpole film based on an inexplicably popular beach read? A problem we can all identify with, I’m sure, and one that’s at the heart of this behind-the-scenes clip the fine folks at Sony have sent along to promote today’s release of Angels & Demons on Blu-ray and DVD. Ron Howard’s solution to the problem: rebuild the Sistine Chapel in Los Angeles.

A sequel to 2006’s The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons is based on the 2000 prequel to 2003’s novel The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown (oh, my head). Like the first film, it stars Tom Hanks as Harvard symbologist Professor Robert Langdon, once again investigating an ancient peril that threatens the modern realm, but this time with slightly less ridiculous hair. Everyone’s favorite go-to secret society, the Illuminati, are offing cardinals (funny hats, not pretty birds) and their murderous plans don’t stop there. Langdon must run around the Vatican cracking ancient clues in order to foil their fiendish, perhaps even dastardly, plans. Director Ron Howard is once again in the director’s chair, and this time Hanks is joined by the likes of Ewan McGregor and Stellan Skarsgard.

The flick arrives today on Blu-ray ($39.95), two-disc DVD ($36.95), and a single-disc edition for those with extremely limited shelf space ($28.96). Check out the clip below, and you can visit the official movie site right here.
