MGM made a smart move bringing Bond to Blu-ray for the first time just in time for Quantum of Solace to hit theaters. Now, the same day the latest Bond adventure comes to DVD and Blu-ray, the second wave of Bond pictures is coming to Blu-ray, featuring some of Bond’s best and worst adventures: Goldfinger, Moonraker, and The World is Not Enough.
The Blu-rays haven’t gotten here yet, but I have a few complaints about this already. First of all, the first wave of Bond movies included six films. Now we’re only getting three? The math doesn’t make any sense. There certainly isn’t another Bond movie on the horizon to tie future releases to, so this seems like a very illogical choice to me.
And what about this selection of movies? Goldfinger is arguably Bond’s best adventure, and it would be smart to pair it with Goldeneye and The Man With the Golden Gun for a themed offering that is spread across the same Bond actors. But Moonraker makes no sense when The Spy Who Loved Me, its predecessor that introduced villainous henchman Jaws, hasn’t been released.
Anyway, those are the next three Bond movies coming to Blu-ray on March 24th. Check out the contents below:
