Ring in the New Year with a barrage of bullets. On January 19th, 2010, not only will you be able to purchase Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassins’ Ball on DVD and Blu-ray, but you’ll have the option to get a digital download as well.
Tom Berenger stars as Walter Weed, an inconspicuous office clerk for the FBI who finds himself in the middle of an assassination plot. Well, it’s more of a game, actually. The mysterious Hal Leuco gathers a group of the world’s most ruthless killers to take out Weed. The one to do so will make off with a hefty reward. The only thing stopping Weed from being taken out by a psychopath with an affinity for power-tools (Vinnie Jones), a fatal master of disguise (Tommy Flanagan), a beautiful woman who takes pride in her unusual killing technique (Martha Higareda), or the infamous Tremor family is Agent Baker (Clayne Crawford). If you’ve seen the first film, you know what you’re in for. If you haven’t, just think shootouts on steroids. Odds are, the second film will pack as big of a bang as the first, just not as big of a cast. Smokin’ Aces boasted names like Ryan Reynolds, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, and Ben Affleck amongst others. Assassins’ Ball has some familiar faces like Jones and Ernie Hudson, but nothing compared to the caliber of the original cast. The film’s inability to namedrop probably holds no bearing. If you’re into gunplay and the most inventive of deaths, that’s all that matters. Both the DVD and BD come packed with bonus materials. There are deleted scenes, a gag reel, feature commentary, and five featurettes. Check out the full list of extras and their descriptions below: BONUS FEATURES AVAILABLE ON BLU-RAY AND DVD
