I have probably had the press release for South Park: Imaginationland sent to me more times than any other movie so far this year. Forget about Oscar contenders or classic films. South Park is apparently where it’s at. I wouldn’t know – I stopped watching the show about six seasons ago, back when Kenny dying every week was still funny.

Imaginationland hit DVD today and is the kind of thing I’d normally pass over, but since I’ve gotten so many releases my way, including some today even, I figured I should hit on it really quickly. The DVD movie is comprised of three episodes from South Park’s eleventh season, along with new, never before seen footage. The result is an uncensored “director’s cut” of Imaginationland that includes a commentary from Matt Stone and Trey Parker, storyboards, and two fan-favorite episodes.

If you, like me, don’t watch South Park on a regular basis, here’s the plot:

The boys of South Park are transported to a magical realm in their greatest odyssey ever. Stan, Kyle, and Butters find themselves in Imaginationland just as terrorists launch an attack that unleashes all of mankind’s most evil characters imaginable. With the world’s imaginations spinning out of control, the government prepares to nuke Imaginationland to put an end to the chaos. Racing against time to prevent nuclear annihilation, the citizens of Imaginationland realize their only hope of salvation lies with the unlikeliest of heroes: Butters. Ignoring the impending apocalypse, Cartman goes all the way to the Supreme Court to get justice for his case of dry balls.
