She was almost Wonder Woman, before NBC passed on her already filmed pilot, now Adrianne Palicki is moving on to a new geek-friendly property. The former Friday Night Lights star has joined the cast of G.I. Joe 2.

Currently titled G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes, the sequel has already locked up Channing Tatum to return as Duke and added Dwayne Johnson to play Roadblock. Palicki is being hired to play Lady Jaye, team Joe’s covert operations specialist, real name Alison R. Hart-Burnett.

Deadline hints that Paramount Pictures is in a rush to get their G.I. Joe sequel moving, in part because Star Trek is being endlessly delayed and, well, they need something to bring in some money. Because of that they’re expected to lock up more returning cast members in the next few days, as well as cast the pivotal role of Joe Colton, the original G.I. Joe. Rumor has it the studio wants Bruce Willis.

As for Palicki, she had to find something to do in a world without Wonder Woman. In theory the next place you’ll see her is in the remake of Red Dawn opposite Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, though that movie’s been in the can for awhile and nobody really seems to know when or if they’re ever going to release it. Palicki seems to have a knack for ending up in things which never actually make it in front of people’s eyeballs. She was also in the now legendary, but never aired, Aquaman TV movie.
