There’s a reason The Simpsons is the longest running prime-time animated series, the American animated show with the highest number of episodes and is guaranteed to make it to a 22nd season; audiences cannot get enough of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. You know what you do with a show that you can’t get enough of? Buy it on DVD! On August 18th Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release The Simpsons The Complete Twelfth Season on DVD pack with over 500 minutes of your favorite Springfield antics.

The set features all 21 episodes that aired during the 2000-2001 season which includes “Treehouse of Horror XI” and “A Tale of Two Springfields,” during which Animal Control is called to remove a badger from Santa’s Little Helper’s doghouse and Homer creates a Springfield Civil War when he discover the town has two area codes. Season 12 shows what happens when Homer makes his own gossip website, the kids of Springfield Elementary are trapped in school by a snowstorm and when Lisa becomes the victim of a female bully. The disc also features tons of guest stars like Kathy Griffin, Kelsey Grammer, Michael Keaton and a slew of tennis stars in the “Tennis the Menace” episode like the Williams sisters.

I know there are people out there who don’t share my love for this show, but I can guarantee even those haters couldn’t help but to giggle a little when watching an episode. Not only is the show perfect to own on DVD because you can watch the material over and over, but the people behind the discs truly know how to put together a set. Every season set released has had remarkable amounts of bonus material, so it’s not surprising that the 12th edition follows suit. The 21 episodes are spread out over four discs each of which include commentary with executive producers, writers, directors, cast members and more. There’s illustrated commentary for the “Lisa the Tree Hugger” episode and an animated showcase for the “Treehouse of Horror XI” episode. If you like the comic book guy, you’re in for a treat because not only does he gets his own featurette called “Best. Moments. Ever.,” he’s featured on the collectible packaging.

Of course all of these goodies come at a price. The Simpsons The Complete Twelfth Season will cost you $49.98, but for any Simpsons fan it should be $49.98 well spent. Even if you haven’t been sucked into the craze at any point over the last 20 years, you won’t be disappointed.
