Long before the Transformers were chasing Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox across the desert, they were invading our living room and trying to sells toys – awesome, awesome toys. On October 20th you can relive your childhood or introduce your offspring to a time when cartoons kicked serious ass with Shout! Factory’s Transformers 25th Anniversary “Matrix of Leadership” Edition Collector’s Set!

Spread across 16 DVDs, featuring 98 episodes of the original Generation One animated series, plus tons of bonus content and a collectible booklet, this set can only be called epic. And regardless how well the cartoon holds up, it’s bound to be better than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Michael Bay, take note.

We’ve got the full specs for the bonus features, not to mention a trailer for the set and a mess of clips. Check ‘em out and remember a time when Optimus Prime had no mouth, Megatron was a handgun, and Bumblebee wasn’t a freaking Camaro.

Bonus Features

Five retrospective featurettes including brand-new, in-depth interviews with individuals involved with the early success of the Transformers franchise. Two of these featurettes are exclusive to this set, including a conversation with comic writer Bob Budiansky and a voice-cast reunion. The reunion features Jack Angel (RAMJET), Michael Bell (PROWL), Gregg Berger (GRIMLOCK), Aurthur Burghardt (DEVASTATOR), Corey Burton (Spike Witwicky), Richard Gautier (RODIMUS PRIME), Neil Ross (SLAG), and Frank Welker (MEGATRON).
