Lions for Lambs suffered from an onslaught of political/war-themed movies in 2007, and an audience that didn’t really want to see them. Add on top of that the general feeling that Tom Cruise is still a bit overexposed, and you had a movie that didn’t have much of a chance for its theatrical release. Now the critically acclaimed movie comes to DVD for a second chance at grabbing an audience.

Starring Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, and Robert Redford (who also directed the picture), Lions for Lambs shows the impact of the war in Afghanistan through the stories of an inspirational professor (Redford) and a battle between a slick senator and a liberal journalist (Cruise and Streep), all of whom have some sort of influence over two recent college graduates serving in the war.

The DVD, being released April 8th, includes a feature-length commentary from Redford, as well as featurettes looking at the making of the movie, the process of moving the film “From Script to Screen,” and the legacy of United Artists.
