If you loved the songs and silliness of Joss Whedon’s Emmy-winning web series Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, but thought it just wasn’t high-def enough for your tastes, fear not! Dr. Horrible is coming to Blu-ray May 25th, and he’s bringing Captain Hammer and Penny along with him.
It’s something of a coup for a web series to merit a Blu-ray release, but then Dr. Horrible has always been about thinking outside the box. Created during the 2008 Writers’ Strike, Dr. Horrible introduces us to Dr. H himself (Neil Patrick Harris), a semi-competent supervillain with a lovely singing voice who dreams and schemes of defeating his arch-nemesis Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion), earning membership in the Evil League of Evil, and winning the heart of his laundromat crush Penny (Felicia Day). This being the brainchild of Joss Whedon, however, there’s no way things will be as simple as all that. Retailing for $19.95, the set will net you the entire 42-minute series, plus 92 minutes of special features. Not a bad ratio if you ask me, and that’s not even counting the draw of Felicia Day in glorious high definition. If you need me, I’ll be pre-ordering while humming the “Bad Horse” theme song… Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog Blu-Ray Special Features
